Soldiers Grove Library News

Greetings Everyone,

It’s February and believe it or not, we’re on our way out of winter!

This month the Library is once again collaborating with the Kickapoo Valley Reserve http://kvr.state.wi.us/Home in support of their "Creative Communities Canvas Project". This is an inspiring fundraiser for the Reserve, which costs nothing for you to participate and has FLIGHT IN NATURE as its theme. Participants receive a 6-inch-by 6-inch canvas to artistically interpret this themeasit pertains to nature. The art canvases will ultimately be sold through an online auction with proceeds going to the KVR Education and Events Program. Canvases are available to pick up at the KVR Visitor Center or here at the Soldiers Grove Library, to be returned by Feb 25th, either at the Reserve or the Library. We’ll have two opportunities to work together with Patty Bergemann, a local artist and painter, and her energetic assistant, Jorryn Foster, to create your own canvas for the project.
KVR Community Canvas Project Workshops with Patty and Joryyn: Two Wednesdays, Feb 13th and Feb 20th, 2-5pm.

Drop in at any point during the afternoon, materials will be provided. You can also bring some paints/pencils, fibers/collage materials or whatever supplies you can imagine for your project and we’ll have some fun creating together! Don’t think you can’t be artistic. Just cast your hesitations to the windchill and come out to play!

Story Time with Ms Cecilia continues each Tuesday morning at 10am. Next week will be a field trip to the Post Office to see how letters get delivered and to mail some Valentines!

And finally, mark your calendar for another exciting travel adventure with Monique and Phillip Hooker! This time we’ll visit Budapest and Slovenia, with a taste of Eastern Europe besides! Travels With Monique, Tuesday, February 26th, 5pm. More details to come…

Stay safe & warm,

~Cele
