What's Happening at the Library

Soldiers Grove Library News

Hello Friends,

Happy Summer! Here are 2 events happening this week at the Library.

Thursday, June 29, 7pm, local author John Sime reads from his book, Ain’t No Elephants in Timbuktu. In 1976 John served in the US Peace Corps in the West African republic of Mali. He returned in 2003 and observing the decades of changes there, wrote this book of essays & poems. It will be an entertaining evening!

StoryWalk! What’s that??? here’s a description

StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you’re directed to the next page in the story. StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 11 countries including, Germany, Canada, England, Bermuda, Russia, Malaysia and Pakistan! They are always received with appreciation.

Story Walk debuted at the Village playground located in the “Old Town” park during Dairy Days. The Walk will continue, set up at various locations, beginning in the courtyard behind the Library. All are invited to enjoy the Walk any Tuesday or Saturday through July. Several different books will be featured during the summer, an independent activity for children to enjoy and also earn a chance to win a legendary T-shirt, designed once again by Pat Gilbert.

Let’s Go on a Story Walk! Any Tuesday or Saturday in July
Stroll through the Libary courtyard, follow the numbers and read a story!
