SG Library Event

Hello!

Just a reminder that this week Thursday, Dec 18th, Kelly Lemley will present an informational program on the "Back-to-Landers" project that she and Josh Feyen have been developing.

Here are the details from Kelle:

Were you part of, witness to or are you interested in learning about the “back to the land movement,” a significant urban-to-rural migration, in Crawford, Grant, Richland and Vernon counties between 1965 and 1985? We invite the general public on Thursday, December 18, for an open house at the Soldiers Grove Library, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., to learn about and discuss how this urban-to-rural migration to southwestern Wisconsin created and influenced the social, political, economic and cultural fabric in these three counties.

Kelle Lemley will present photographs and posters that were a result of 95 interviews Joshua Feyen and she gathered 2009-2014 and presented at the October 2014 national Oral History Association conference held in Madison, WI.

Kelle will discuss how the back-to-the-land movement influenced community building historically and how it continues to resonate today. Please join if you can! The posters will remain on display in the Soldiers Grove library until the end of January 2015 and then travel to Gays Mills, Richland Center and Viroqua libraries. Go to our facebook page, “Back to the land in the Kickapoo and Pine Valleys” to see these dates.
